The Artist
Mendy has been a member of Headway East London since 2022. A pivotal moment in his studio journey was when he discovered ink; a medium which perfectly complements the fluid way in which he works. Mendy likes to paint in short bursts, with a brimming palette and an array of brushes to hand. If his process had a soundtrack, it would be improvised jazz.
His art is a deliciously colourful. Lines and objects emerge from all directions, forming pattern-like compositions. Recurring motifs can be found across his paintings such as the letter ‘A’, numbers, various fruits and perhaps most-importantly, his name, often added as a first touch and an ever-present reminder of the artist behind the work.
