For almost a year Lawrence has worked on an ambitious scroll spanning 15 metres, with the support of his carer Rosa. At times, Lawrence will sit with his eyes closed, too fatigued to draw. At others he will work in energetic, intense bursts with the sound of his pencil filling the studio as it loops and scribbles. Lawrence rarely uses speech, communicating mostly through eye blinks. He has restricted movement in his hands, so Rosa supports his elbow while he draws, and helps him choose his favourite colours.
